The journey began early in the morning, 4am. We drove all the way to Calais. After spending the night in a hotel we then continued our journey the next day by taking the Eurotunnel and we reached Scotland in the evening.
Scotland is a very beautiful land and it easily gets to your heart. Among deserted roads, endless yards and it's incredible welcoming people, as an Italian I thought I was on another planet.
We slept in domestic B&Bs, just in the people's houses, so cool... every night a different place. After 3 days we reached the Highlands: a dream. While on one of those twisty roads, up and down the hills, among lakes, rivers and "nothing", we suddenly found ourselves in the very middle of a movie: a castle, "the" castle. A bridge and the Highlander was with us. We keep heading north up to the top driving by castles, bays, fjords and a surreal world with one-way roads, small villages and breathtaking views.
It's time to go back... we get to Lochness and the famous lake, but Nessy doesn't show up... too bad. Finally, we visit the two cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, they're cool, not very chaotic and with their own northern charm. The journey home is still pretty long, but it can still be fun, while peeking here and there all along France
